Erin and Brad recently moved back to Arizona from California and decided to buy and renovate a new home ANDplan their wedding at the same time. Craziness, right? Well they pulled it off, but knew they would need help executing the wedding day and reached out to Wisegirl Weddings. I love when I meet a new client and we just click, and that’s exactly what happen with Erin and I when we discovered our mutual love for Harry Potter! 🙂 I met Erin about one month prior to her wedding date, which is perfect timing for our Worry-Free Wedding day clients. Erin had planned a small ceremony at the tranquil Desert Botanical Gardens and then a larger reception at her parents’ custom-built Ahwatukee home. Not only is having multiple locations for a wedding day a large under-taking, but hosting a reception in your home is an even bigger one! It is wonderful to be able to create such memories in your own home, but it requires a lot of preparation to turn a home into a wedding venue to accommodate all your guests. Erin’s family were troopers and luckily had thrown some pretty epic parties previously, so they had experience with how to best use the home’s floorplan. Her dad even miraculously built a dancefloor to go over their pool less than one month from the big day!!! Wisegirl Weddings came in to tour the home and finalized some planning details, like power supply, vendor locations and how to best execute the setup of the reception space. Erin went with a succulent motif throughout the event, from the backdrop of the botanical gardens for the ceremony, the color of the bridesmaids’ dresses, to the centerpieces, and even down to the adorable DIY favors. They wanted to utilize the entire area of the home, which was needed due to the number of guests that were to attend the reception. This was achieved by having guest tables set throughout the multi-level courtyard that focused on the dancefloor and in the interior of the home. Instead of having a traditional sit-down dinner, Erin and Brad opted for a variety of food stations spread amongst the different guest locations around the space which allowed for guests to freely flow and mingle through the home. Wisegirl Weddings was able to prepare and decorate both spaces, dealing with the crazy winds that whipped through the Ahwatukee Foothills along the way, and sucessfully provided a worry-free day for the bride and groom and their families so they could fully enjoy this special day and party on through the night! Congratulations to the newlyweds!

The Schreifels Wedding

Lexie was planning her and CJ’s wedding at the beautiful private estate, Palm Lake Oasis, in Paradise Valley. Having worked at this non-traditional wedding venue, we understand it makes for a unique event, but can sometimes require additional work, when an on-site staff is not included… enter Wisegirl Weddings! Lexie had been successfully planning her wedding when Wisegirl Weddings came on board for the final six months to keep things on track and help figure out the logistics when it came to the venue layout. The bride and groom had a strong vision that evolved around the property’s lake backdrop as it help set the tone for their relaxed romantic nuptials. We decided to set the ceremony and dining against the lake, which would require a quick flip of the space but we successfully transformed the area as guests enjoyed cocktail hour. CJ and Lexie laced special touches throughout the styling, from the boho wedding arbor made with love, by the father of the bride, to the incorporation of CJ’s islander-vibe with his lei, arbor florals and garland for the head table. Everything came together organically and allowed the focus to be on the love for the bride and groom, shared amongst those in attendance.

The Carter Wedding

This one was an extra special one! Courtney is one of my oldest and closet friends and not only was I honored to be one of her bridesmaids, but I also had the privledge of helping her along with the planning process. Since I had responsibilities during the day as bridesmaid, I was so grateful to have my right-hand gal, my assistant, Jess, step in and handle the reception set up and breakdown. Courtney and John booked the Phoenix Art Museum as their venue, which offered a modern and interactive space for their guests. We opted to go for a classic color palette of black, gold and ivory to allow the venue’s art be the pops of color throughout the day. John and Courtney wanted to make sure their guests enjoyed their evening with amazing food, which resulted in the caterer being a large portion of their budget. We were lucky enough to work with amazing vendors and venue, that fit into the budget needs, and we were able offset some of the cost by a view DIY projects, like opting for a polaroid guestbook instead of a professional photobooth. The coordination did not end with the reception as the bride and groom and some of the wedding party were in to mood to hit downtown Phoenix and keep the celebration going. With a couple of phone calls, I convinced a nearby bar to keep their kitchen open and get some apps going for the Mr & Mrs (we all know the bride and groom rarely eat their dinner at the reception)! It was a great ending to the night with close friends, one that I won’t forget. Much love and hugs to Mr & Mrs Carter!

The Reaves Wedding

I happen to know Cassie and her mom, Brenda, through Cassie’s cousin who also happens to be my boyfriend, so we’re practically family, and was lucky enough to have them trust me to assist them with Cassie and Chris’ wedding planning. Shortly after Brenda and Cassie relocated from Alaska to Arizona, Chris, who is stationed in Louisiana, visited during Thanksgiving and popped the question! The planning timeline was short since they decided they wanted to have a spring wedding in order to take advantage of the nice weather (before the AZ heat kicked in for summer). Brenda was amazingly on top of the planning, with a little bit of guidance from Wisegirl Weddings, and before long we found unique vendors to make the Reaves wedding a reality. From the fun and affordable venue of the Arizona Museum of Natural History, the one-of-a-kind caterer, Later Tater, a food truck that serves a variety of loaded baked potatoes, to the custom Krispy Kreme favors for their guests, everything was coming together. Creative and personal touches were used throughout the event, from the lavender lemonade (yummy and color-coordinated with their theme), the giant Abalone shell from Alaska that was used to carry the rings, to the fun paper airplanes that guest made during the evening for the bride and groom’s grand exit. The next day, the bride and groom and their wedding party celebrated at Disneyland before Cassie packed up and moved to Louisiana with her husband. Cheers to the Reaves’ living happily ever after!

The Jacques Wedding
Rehearsal & Event Day Coordination (including schedule creation, coordination & vendor management, and setup & breakdown) by Wisegirl Weddings. Alexandra and David’s wedding incorporated her love for music and his love of fishing among the beautiful shades of purple and glittering gold accents that decorated their event. Alex, a music teacher, used her own violin case as their card box, had guests leave their thumbprint on a music sheet guestbook and hired a string quartet for their ceremony music. Holding their wedding event at Encanto Park Clubhouse allowed them to have the lake as the backdrop to their ceremony, which was perfect for the groom, David, who enjoys fishing. He even had the creative idea to have a knot-tying unity ceremony using a fisherman’s knot, that also symbolized their bond to one another as they became husband and wife. With the Wisegirl team managing the setup and breakdown of ceremony and reception elements, vendors and timeline allowed the wedding party and guests to fully enjoy the celebration of Mr. and Mrs. Jacques, which was the bride and groom’s main goal.

The Sipp Wedding

Gabi, was recently engaged when she met us at a bridal expo. Although the full time teacher was lucky enough to have her sister take on the task of planning and designing her wedding, even while living across the country, she also had the responsibility of being Gabi’s Matron of Honor. Gabi decided to hire Wisegirl Weddings as the Day of Coordinator so that her and Daniel’s families, who came from near and far, could fully enjoy the celebration of their marriage. Wisegirl Weddings kept in touch with Gabi throughout the planning process and attended the final venue meeting to ensure all was in order, as this can be an unfamiliar stage of the planning process for brides doing it on their own. We also met closer to the big day and I learned just how much of her wedding was a family effort. Not only was her sister her planner and decorator, her brother provided Spanish moss from his garden to be used within the decor, and her parents, while living in Chile, hand-made all the mini cactus guest favors. The Sipp wedding was definitely a DIY labor of love and we were glad that Wisegirl Weddings was trusted with the task to put it all together. Congratulations Gabi and Daniel!

I met Teleia at our January expo and we immediately hit it off, when we realized we had the same style and design preferences. I was thrilled when she and Jordan ended up booking Wisegirl Weddings as their wedding planner and coordinator. Throughout the year we collaborated on the details for the grand ceremony and reception they were wanting and nearly had everything finalized with a month to go til the big day. Well, real life happened and Teleia and Jordan re-evaluated what the most important elements of their wedding were and determined that the only thing that mattered was having their family witness the vows and commitment they were about to make to one another. This resulted in a new game plan and vision for their wedding day. I was so relieved when they still requested my assistance since I really wanted to make sure their nuptials were all they dreamed of, even if their event down-sized to an intimate elopement from the large scale reception they thought they originally desired. Wisegirl Weddings knows how to roll with the punches and worked quickly to find and secure a new venue, the amazing Boyce Thompson Arboretum and worked with existing vendors to adjust the current contracts. The Galaviz Wedding was so memorable, from the backdrop of breathtaking botanical gardens, to the lush flowers and the vibrant bride and groom fashions that fit perfectly with the Arizona desert, and the sweet, heartfelt and spiritual ceremony between Jordan and Teleia. After they became Mr and Mrs in front of their closest family and friends, they ran off to Paris to celebrate in the city of love and took their photographer/videographer team with to capture the adventure as newlyweds. Thank you again for letting Wisegirl Weddings stay along for the ride and see you become man and wife.

The Gomez Wedding

Brenda was referred to Wisegirl Weddings by a mutual friend (we LOVE referrals!) and had determined that she needed some extra help with planning her long awaited wedding to her fiance, Roman. The two had already been committed to one another for years and had started a family but decided it was now their time to celebrate their life together and officially become husband and wife. Brenda had a clear vision of the lively celebration that would incorporate their Mexican culture, family traditions and love for one another (and tequila)! She and Roman opted for a traditional Catholic ceremony at their church and only required Wisegirl Weddings’ services for their cocktail hour and reception. Brenda found a venue that merged both rustic and romantic charm that was a perfect backdrop for their elegant outdoor fiesta. Brenda brought decor items directly from Mexico, including papel picado banners and pom poms, and hand-painted ceramic vases. Brenda and I found unique rentals which added purposeful yet beautiful design elements. We planned to create seating vignettes with antique furniture and to use wine barrels for tables and displays around the property to add to the rustic and romantic ambiance. The Gomez’s also brought a lot of fun elements into their day with their huge DIY glitter heart backdrop for the photo booth, made by Roman, and provided their guests with complimentary shots of tequila throughout the evening. All of these combined elements along with lively music and dance floor antics definitely went along with their “fiesta like there’s no manana” motto. Cheers to the Gomez family!

The Beltran Wedding

Heidi was another expo client and when we had our first consultation, I immediately got a sense of how much love she and Sergio shared for one another. I learned that her wedding theme was focused on the book, The Night Circus, a magical love story which played a role in their relationship from the beginning. I was excited by the idea of her wedding inspiration and read the book (and loved it) straight away. Heidi and Sergio thoughtfully planned their wedding and incorporated the book’s imagery throughout their design. They created their wedding flowers from the pages of a book, the graphic description of the story was brought in with the colors red, white and black through the wedding party fashions and accessories and decor. Heidi and Sergio also created the centerpieces to represent the different circus tents from the novel. Their venue fit perfectly, and although it wasn’t under the big tent, it was still an enchanted and majestic backdrop under the bistro lights at the Arizona Desert Botanical Gardens. It was a beautiful juxtaposition between the dangerous, thorny cactus gardens and the soft, romantic design and heartfelt moments of their nuptials. The entire day, especially the ceremony, was a perfect representation of their emotional connection to one another. It was somewhat fitting that Wisegirl Weddings was only contracted to be the day of coordinators and allow Heidi and Sergio to focus on each other and not of the execution of their plans. This added to the element of surprise, and was inline with the story they loved so much because, “The circus arrives without warning. No announcements precede it. It is simply there, when yesterday it was not.” I hope they think back to their special day in October and remember the magical moments that they created for each other, their guests and us Wisegirls. Wishing the Beltran’s a love story that will never end.

Carey and Lucas found Wisegirl Weddings at one of the bridal expos and though the creative teacher planned all aspects of her wedding, even crafting decor to personalize their event with their love of adventures through books and travel, she knew in order to enjoy the day she and Lucas have been looking forward to, that someone else should execute all the day’s details. The bride and groom, along with the venue’s coordinator and staff, made this day of coordination one of the most enjoyable events we’ve worked. It seems to be clear just how ‘worry-free’ Carey and Lucas were on their wedding day and focused only on the happiness and love between and around them! I imagine them living their adventure with just as many laughs, smiles and kisses as captured on the day they became Mr & Mrs. Congratulations to the Belts!

The Stone Wedding

I am lucky enough to have know Mike and Krysten for some years now and yet again having a friend as a client has been awesome. Plus, it was extra fun to have an excuse to hang out even more! Not only was I able to be a part of Mike and Krysten’s wedding as their planner/coordinator but I also got to play role of guest since my boyfriend was the best man. Don’t be fooled though, I still worked just as hard to make sure their day was the best it could be (even learned how to assemble the photo booth when the attendant needed some assistance).Gold, black and a pop of cyan blue tied into the natural art deco beauty of their historic venue, the Arizona Biltmore. The architecture and landscaping of the resort is so impressive that not a lot of decor elements were necessary. But the bride and groom still brought their personalities to the big day, for instance, Krysten walked down the aisle to a Star Wars track and even managed to sneak a surprise onto the cake for her groom! It was a pleasure to see, as well as take part in, the enjoyment that resulted from all the planning and hard work. And the cherry on top of their day… an upgrade to the presidential honeymoon villa! Congrats once again to Mike and Krysten Stone!

Ashley, a teacher, had planning under control (planning binder organized to the max) – but she nor did her groom, Mark, want her to have to have to deal with the logistics of set up come her wedding day. We were eager to make sure her sweet DIY vintage garden decor came to life… What I was not expecting was how much her groom and guests brought the life to the party! Karaoke (entertaining indeed), a popcorn bar, lawn games, DIY photo booth and dancing under a canopy of string lights made this one memorable evening. I hope their life is full of memories like these.

A multitude of vendors, several planned surprises and a few unexpected bumps in the road kept us Wisegirl’s busy, but the evening turned out to be breathtakingly magical! The two wanted a backdrop that didn’t require much decor to be brought in and the Sedona Red Rocks were an amazing choice for a mini-destination wedding! Wisegirl Weddings was lucky enough to take part in the whole weekend wedding excursion and enjoyed every minute of the Posser party!

The Ballesteros Wedding

A couple of months before the big day, I met Melanie & Al to learn about how we at Wisegirl Weddings could help. These Marine veterans were planning their wedding while being on different sides of the country with Al in Arizona and Melanie in North Carolina. Their main concern was to be able to have all of their hard work come together and not have to worry about all the stress and exhaustion that goes into the setup and execution day of with all their plans. Though it was an extremely warm (more like 100+ degree) day for their nuptials it was a beautiful setting at the Ak-chin Dunes Golf Course. It was helpful and fun to be able to go for a ride and catch a breeze on the golf carts (perk of a golf course wedding) during their photo session! I loved all of their DIY & decor choices that married the old South and Mexican culture to create a sweet vintage theme.

The Meek Wedding

With only one month til the wedding, Nikki came to Wisegirl Weddings looking for assistance during the final hour of planning and wanted to make sure she need not worry about any of the day of details to have her wedding run smoothly. Her out-of-state groom to be, Mike, took a little convincing as to whether or not hiring a Wisegirl was necessary. But after our first meeting and happily answering all of his questions, we won him over and Nikki won a Wisegirl! They chose Tempe Center for the Arts as their venue which provided a fun urban theater elements. They utilized their outdoor space over looking Tempe Lake as their ceremony backdrop and the reception room with floor to ceiling glass walls allowed the city lights illuminate their celebration.

The Ramirez Wedding

Desiree and Rodrigo were the first couple that I booked from my first bridal expo! There were a couple of bumps during the planning process (date change, sudden loss of a vendor, and last minute guest count increase by 40%) but they took it in stride and were there for each other (and had their Wisegirl) to get through it all! Desiree and Rigo, along with Wisegirl weddings, were hands on with nearly every DIY project: from ordering their manzanita branch planters to designing and assembling them, invitation assembly and customization, and candy bar tastings to the creations of misc decor. These high school sweethearts had a wedding day that was filled with love & laughter and successfully reflected their style and personalities! Congrats to the beautiful husband and wife!

I was lucky enough to meet Melissa through friends/past clients and now consider her a good friend! It was fun to bond with her throughout the planning process from vendor meetings to DIY craft projects (glitter everywhere)! Melissa had the stress of planning the majority of the wedding with her groom-to-be living out of state but she was the definition of grace under pressure! Their big day was a beautiful celebration with friends, family and lots-o-partying 🙂

I was so thrilled to work with friends from high school, Diana and Patrick, on their DIY event. We were able to save some money by using dried florals like wheat and lavender for the centerpieces and purchasing glass vases and bottle from thrift stores to give the reception a rustic antique feel. I am so grateful that they chose me to help them design their vision and ensure it was executed to their liking.

The Wong Wedding
Day of Event/Decor Setup and worked in conjunction with the venue’s onsite coordinator by Wisegirl Weddings. I’ve known Wing and Jessica, who is also the owner/photographer of Jessica Q Photography, as co-workers for years but it was a pleasure to work for them on their wedding day. The bride incorporated personalized elements through out the day with some of her own DIY decor and fun facts about she and her groom. Jessica and Wing and their guests really know how to party the night away!

I loved all the bride’s decor of cobalt blues, rich yellows and wood accents which perfectly embodied the beautiful surroundings of their venue.
